Significant extra fibre capacity is now available to Airspeed business customers following network investment by enet in Dublin City.
Airspeed Telecom now has access to over 100km of high-capacity-fibre-count cabling, as well as duct, sub-duct and over 300 chambers. The news comes as a result of Airspeed's sister company enet’s significant expansion of new fibre infrastructure in Dublin’s central business district and surrounding areas.
This network expansion offers a unique and diverse duct route through Dublin City, avoiding legacy infrastructure. The fibre network already facilitates access to a minimum of 11 carrier neutral data centres, as well as five proprietary carrier facilities, and has a major presence along the M50 corridor, IFSC, Donnybrook, Clonshaugh, Parkwest, Citywest.
With this broader fibre footprint Airspeed customers will have access to a wider range of fibre products, as well as increased bandwidths at lower costs. The expansion will also lead to quicker turnaround times for fibre installs and bandwidth increases to existing services. This is a boon for Airspeed customers who are relying more and more on cloud products such as AWS, Azure, Office 365.
The project is the latest investment undertaken by enet and its parent Granahan McCourt Capital. Announcing the expansion, Conal Henry, enet CEO, said: "The new Dublin network is further evidence of enet’s commitment to build on our strong position in the wholesale telecoms market, providing the carrier community with the most extensive and cost-effective network solutions possible. This marks the first time that enet has managed infrastructure in Dublin and underlines our substantial potential to further expand in Ireland."
